Throughout India dance is regarded not only as an accompaniment to social intercourse but also as a mode of aesthetic expression and spiritual realization. The great symbol of dance is Shiva, the cosmic dancer depicted in poetry and sculpture as Nataraja. Similarly the classical theater in India performed in palaces and temples has a history of more than two thousand years. Inspite of differences in beliefs and traditions the reason behind such wonderful society and culture of India is due to the innate goodness of the Indians who were ready to accept anything good coming from any direction.
