The living spirit of India is the valor and the dedication of the Indian freedom fighters towards their motherland. The unconquerable spirit of fighting for our country is still present in all Indian’s hearts. Whenever the country needs protection, the living spirit of India certifies itself through her many sons. Today also in the post-independence period heroic martyrs are always there to save our country during the consequent wars. Thus the Living Spirit of India is everlasting. Some of the names who had truly shown the Living Spirit of India are as follows:

Tatia Tope
Tatia Tope was the hero of the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857. He was among the first to stand against the British regime. Tatia Tope was a threat to the British Government. He faced his death like a real fighter.

Rani Laxmi Bai
Rani Laxmi Bai is the expression of the Indian Women’s courage and forfeit. She was one of the leaders who led her group in the Revolt of 1857. She was among the first to become martyr.

Mahatma Gandhi
Mahatma Gandhi is believed to be the Father of the Nation. He was the major strength behind India’s freedom and possibly the greatest man of 20th Century. He followed the path of non-violence, love and truth. He was the leader of the Non-violent Movement for freedom and became the envoy of peace for the whole world.

Sardar Patel
Sardar Patel or India’s Man of Steel is creditworthy for united India’s present existence. He coped to bring the various princely states under the Indian Union and form a single country.

Bal Gangadhar Tilak
Bal Gangadhar Tilak’s saying “Swaraj is our birthright” gave the Indians a strong reason to fight. He laid the foundation of many schools and published many newspapers. He was an inexorable worker contributing immensely in India’s freedom struggle.
Bhagat Singh
Bhagat Singh was a young activist and a terrific patriot. He was the expression of heroism for the Indian Youth. In order to warn the British Government he bombed during the Legislative session. Although he was sentenced to death by the foreign regime, he has remained immortal on the hearts of the Indians.

Ashfaqualla Khan
Ashfaqualla Khan was a Pathan patriot. He kissed his hangman’s noose and he died with Allah’s name on his lips. He sacrificed everything for Indian Freedom struggle.

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad
Maulana Azad participated in the Khilafat Movement and wrote in an innovatory journal named as Al Hilal. In January 1920 he joined the Indian National Congress. He chaired 1923’s Congress session which was held in September that year. He was the youngest person to be selected as the President of the Congress at the age of 35.

Surendranath Banerjee
The youth forces of Bengal were guided by Surendranath Banerjee towards Indian freedom struggle. He performed as the Indian National Congress’s President in 1895 and1902. From 1878 he edited the paper called “Bengalee” and boldly wrote on freedom, unity, culture and patriotism.

Dr. Annie Besant
From November 1893, Dr. Annie Besant made India her home though she was an Irish born in London. There is a famous saying about her –“there was scarcely any modern reform (in England) for which she had not worked, written, spoken and suffered.” She initiated the Home Rule League in India.
