5) Avani Avittam:
In South India the ritual of Avani Avittam is observed by the Brahmins. On this day of Rakhi Purnima Brahmins wear aYajnopavit or a new holy thread after taking a holy dip. A vow is taken on this day for the penance of all sins of the previous year known as Mahasankalpam.

6) Kajri Purnima:
In the central part of India people celebrate Kajari Purnima. It is an important festival for the farmers. The preparations start on Kajari Navami, nine days after Shravana Amavasya and the rituals are observed by women who have been blessed with a son.

7) Nariyal Purnima:
The God of the Sea, Varuna is worshipped on Nariyal Purnima by the fishermen and celebrate the day with great zest and festivity. Coconut is offered to Varuna as it is believed to a depiction of Lord Shiva possessing three eyes.

8) Pavitropana:
The Gujaratis observe the ritual of Pavitropana on Rakhi Purnima and pray to Lord Shiva offering water to the Shivalingas. The ceremony of fastening twisted cotton filaments, drenched in panchgaivya, around the Shivalinga is performed on that day.
